Our Journey

Journey Counseling Services was founded in 2008 when God laid it on my heart to use my education, experience, and personal background to serve others in counseling from a Christian perspective. Prior to that point I worked many years in various secular settings as a counselor but always struggled with not being able to share my faith and ultimately my Hope with others. I approached my church, Grace Community, and was given the opportunity to use space for my humble beginnings in private practice. By 2012 clientele was building and I was able to bring on another counselor, Kim Rees, who shared my vision for Journey Counseling. We were sharing a small office at the church and experiencing our first growing pains which led to securing additional office space at The Big White House in Coralville. By 2014 God grew us to the point of being able to rent our first space in North Liberty.

Since being in our own location we have had the privilege to work with The University of Iowa and other counseling programs to provide a site and supervision for clinical internships.  We are ministry partners with Grace Community Church and also work with many other churches in the corridor to provide counseling, support, and resources to their congregations. We have established a strong referral base and as a team, we continue to pray and trust that God will bring who He wants us to see. We are so blessed to be able to do this work on a daily basis and we thank each of you for giving us the opportunity to be a part of your lives.
