Q: Do I have to be a Christian to receive counseling at JCS?
A:
No, however you need to be seeking God and looking for answers regarding your spirituality.

Q: Do you have a specialty or areas of expertise?
A:
I personally have struggled with depression and anxiety at times in my life and therefore I have extensive personal and professional knowledge in this area. As licensed mental health counselors Kim and I are trained and qualified to work with any type of mental health issue.

Q: How much do you charge for your counseling sessions?
A: We utilize a sliding fee scale based on combined household income. Please email for additional information. Assistance may be available to those that are facing financial hardship.

Q: Do you accept insurance?
A: YES, we are providers with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Iowa, Aetna, United Healthcare and UMR. We will submit and handle the claims for clients. We can provide detailed invoices for clients to submit for reimbursement with other insurance companies. We also work with select EAP’s.

Q: When do you schedule appointments?
A:  We have various options for appointments including several evenings per week.

Q: Where is your office located?
A: We are located at 6 Hawkeye Drive Suite 105, North Liberty, IA. (MAP)

Q: Are you licensed?
A:
Yes, we are licensed as Mental Health Counselors in the state of Iowa (LMHC).

Q: Are your services confidential?
A: Yes, to the extent allowable by law. There are mandatory reporting laws that require counselors to release information to the proper authorities in cases of child or dependent adult abuse as well as cases of making threats of harm to self or others.

Q: What clientele do you work with? Do you work with children?
A:
We work with women, school-aged children, adolescents and couples. We will use our professional judgment and will make referrals for young children if we believe another professional would have greater knowledge and skills to deal with certain issues.

Q: What is your degree/level of training?
A: We hold Master’s degrees in counseling. My degree is in Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of Iowa obtained in 2002. I have worked in the counseling field for over 20 years in a variety of settings. Kim has her degree in Mental Health Counseling and has equivalent years of experience in the field.
